Handcrafted by Kayu artisans, these sunglasses feature oversized lenses framed elegantly with bamboo. Crafted in Rawa style.

FOR EVERY PAIR OF GLASSES PURCHASED, KAYU WILL DONATE $50 TO FUND ONE SIGHT-RESTORING SURGERY IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD.

Jamie Lim, founder of KAYU, was born in the United States, but grew up in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, surrounded by a unique, contrasting environment of Eastern and Western aesthetic, and great richness and poverty. Inspired by the beauty of the region and touched by the inequality she witnessed, Jamie set out to create a line of ecological and ethical line of accessories.

The result, KAYU, is a range of sunglasses handcrafted from bamboo. Bamboo grows twice as fast as a tree, and restores itself in just five years. This, coupled with its ability to grow naturally without pesticide or fertilizer, make it a sustainable and eco-friendly material.

KAYU believes that no person should remain blind due to a lack of funds so KAYU collaborates with Unite for Sight, Inc. (www.uniteforsight.org) in promoting the elimination of preventable blindness by contributing $50 for each pair of glasses we sell.

80% of blindness is curable or preventable, yet 36 million are needlessly blind. Avoidable blindness is most common in the poorest of the poor, and has far-reaching implications that touch on all aspects of human development - social, economic and quality of life. Eliminating preventable blindness is one of the world's most urgent problems and one that persists due to a lack of funds.

One pair of glasses = One sight-restoring surgery. Make a difference, give the gift of sight.
