Many friends told me that when I reach 40, I need to start reaching out for reading glasses.
If not for our lasik treatment, hubby and myself will be ordering our designer reading glasses this year but lasik helps to eliminate this hassle for now! I don’t mind wearing fashionable and designer glasses as the designs are pretty cool these days. I used to enjoy visiting my optician cos I get to change ‘my look’… it is so vain! Having lasik done means I can delay glasses for many years but I can still look out for trendy sunglasses!
MOving to a new home can be exciting though there will be a whole lot of things to think about. The planning usually takes a few weeks to months and it is rewarding when you put in the extra efforts.
We went to check out a new development a week ago and I was quite happy with the location of the land. We saw some homes with interior plantation shutters and it can be quite neat and nice. We chose a plot of land at one corner and hopefully the price won’t be overly high. At this stage, it’s just research and comparisons before the time comes for us to make a real purchase.
Renovating an old house is a big job and it’s something I’m not good at. My friend had just finished renovating her house and after hearing her stories, I told myself that I wouldn’t like to be in her shoes!
I recalled renovating our bathroom last year and it was plain messy! The people who worked on the renovations didn’t care about the mess and I didn’t enjoy cleaning up at all. Our neighbours next door in the commercial pumps business was also renovating so the whole neighborhood is full of trucks and wheelbarrows at some stage. If possible, I would rather build our own house than to find one that requires massive renovations. It would be too much work for me!
We are entering winter in the southern hemisphere and since it’s our first down under, we are preparing ourselves for those wintry cold mornings.
After a discussion, we decide to buy a heater for the family but it was unfortunate that the heater we ordered online arrived broken. We thus had to ask for a replacement and I hope that they can send us a good one this time. I am thinking of buying a cashmere throw for the lounge sofa as it can be quite cold when you sit on it. Otherwise, the throw is nice when we chill out in front of the tv at night. Winter is just a nice time to stay in and enjoy some family time.
The economy is improving but when I look around me, it doesn’t seem to live up to its claim.
Today, I spoke to my chiro and he was sharing about how his patients have been visiting less as they find that lifestyle expenses are increasing. Even a Texas Work Injury Lawyer told me that his family household expenses has escalated and much has been attributed to inflation. I believe it’s wise to be prudent and not get into a debt circle since it’s not nice to live from food to mouth.
Mother’s day is over and I am so touched when my little boy made me a nice card from school. It was a nice gesture.
Next month, we will be celebrating Father’s day and I wonder what my son will come home with. I am searching for a father’s gift for hubby and can’t think of what would be the best. I look through the internet and check through some of the more practical stuff such as cordless drill batteries, a toolbox and even a practical book on property but it’s just so hard to find the right gift! Why must buying a gift for dad so hard at all?
Shopping and buying things online has never been easier with internet technology. How I wish the internet was so advanced when I was getting married -I would then be able to order photo cards for my guests instead of those boring printed ones!
My friends who are getting married are having an easier time ordering their wedding favors and all online. They told me that you can even order bridesmaid dresses and made to measure to the custom sizes of the bridesmaids. I thought that was wonderful! Well, I guess I just have to use the internet for other things since I’m already married. In fact, I just ordered a photocard for mother’s day – that was just a great gift idea!
We live in a world where everything seems uncertain and sometimes we ask ourselves in what or who can we trust or rely on.
In the past, people live within their means and my mom used to tell me that they don’t have such things called credit card. But things have changed much now! These days, you can search for cash advance or apply for credit cards online and everything is so instant and convenient. You can actually get a card without leaving your desk! Well, I don’t know what will come next after credit cards. It’s just hard to imagine, isn’t it?All I know is that it’s better to be contented and live within our means; this way, we don’t end up living outside our limits and get stuck with a whole lot of debt!
I woke up with a slight headache this morning and I believe it must be the sinus that is troubling my sleep last night.
Today is going to be a busy afternoon with so many things lining up to settle before we do a getaway. It’s our wedding anniversary and we are married for 11 years! I start up the computer and got an email on rv loans. It’s amazing how convenient it is to get information these days. Right after this, I have to prepare brekky for my boy and everyone and on to packing for the getaway. The weather is looking good and I’m excited!
Since we have been house hunting, we have been learning how to inspect homes and finding out more about the different home materials used.
A friend of mine just bought a house and she has been spending time refurbishing it. She put on timber flooring and rib off all the old carpets on her floor. Should I have a house one day, I would look into pergo flooring who has a very nice finish and I read that it’s fairly durable. I like wood flooring for easy maintenance and there will be less concerns on allergies. This is great for allergy sufferers in the house and I would have less to worry about. But it might a little colder during winter months compared to carpet flooring.
