Last weekend, I visited the home and living exhibition and did my research in the mattress options for our new home.

I checked out on a few branded mattresses and it must be the hardest thing to decide on which one worked best for us. I saw a booth selling organic mattresses but was too tired to check it out. Many exhibitors seemed to be promoting eco friendly mattresses but I just wasn’t sure how credible the claims had been. All I know is, I need one that is anti dust mites, anti bacterial and anti microbial. Besides, the mattresses have to focus on back care and it must help to address my back issues too. I checked with a friend in the North Carolina health insurance who just recently bought her new mattress and she gave me a few recommendations.

After much comparison, I am settling for Sealy and looks like I would get it at a better price in Australia than in Asia since Sealy is also made in Australia. Now, i can’t wait to test out the different models when I visit the showrooms in a few months’ time. It’s nice to sleep on new mattresses!

Clean air matters alot to me. I am an allergy sufferer so I tend to stay away from dusty and dirty places. Even when I enter ‘moldy’ rooms, my nose tend to sniff a little. Recent reports say that rritants, not germs, may be the cause of chronic colds.

When the furnace kicks on, dust that has settled into the carpet, atop bookshelves and beneath furniture gets stirred up and cycled through the air. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor levels of many air pollutants may be two to five times, and in some cases more than 100 times, higher than outdoor levels. I used to worry more about sleep aids but I’m shifting more focus towards a cleaner room and house.

Here are some tips to help reduce indoor allergens and help you stay sniffle-free.

* To get rid of mold, clean the areas with bleach. Try a solution of 5 percent bleach and a small amount of detergent to 95 percent water.

* Keep a humidity level of 30 percent or 40 percent in the house to make conditions for mold growth less optimal. This can be achieved through the use of an automatic whole-home humidifier.

* Add a whole-house air filter to your furnace. A typical throwaway furnace filter traps only about 15 percent of indoor air pollutants. Laboratory tests show that whole-house electronic air cleaners, from companies like Aprilaire, can eliminate up to 99.5 percent of pollen, spores and ragweed. According to Aprilaire, the technological advancement of its filter combined with electronic components allows it to be one of the most efficient air cleaners on the market. It also requires the filter to be changed only once a year.

* To control dust mites, clean and dust more frequently. Use an airtight, allergy-proof plastic cover on all mattresses, pillows and box springs.

* Shampoo or replace your carpet or better off, remove the carpet altogether.

By taking these simple steps to improve indoor air quality, your home will once again be a safe haven for you and your family.

This week, we will be shopping for new mattresses for our new home and I’ve begun my research in the internet and it’s exciting. With so many various kinds of mattresses around, from eco friendly ones to all natural quality, it can be hard to find the ‘perfect’ one.

Compare Leading Brands. Look For Real Value.

Basic economics tells us value is not the cheapest price…it is how many features and benefits you receive for the price. Higher prices usually mean more features and benefits, which mean better support and comfort for you. So invest in yourself. Buy the best quality sleep set your budget will allow. You deserve the best!

For someone who is a lighter like me, I have learned to treasure sleep quality. Yet, many of us have failed to notice that we spend one third of our life sleeping. I have also stopped looking at the aesthetics but depend more on the quality and technology behind the making of the mattress. “On sale” specials may look like bargains, but how well do they support you…and how long will they last? A quality sleep set is designed and engineered to provide you with proper support and comfort for years and years. High quality beds are a better investment, because it will cost you less to sleep on per night than an ordinary a bargain “special”. When we were shopping for furnace filters, we were looking at cost savings in the area of maintenance. In everything that you pay for, you want to think long term. For me, I hope to find eco friendly ones that is good for our health and delivers the best for the family

Remember…you spend one third of your life in bed. More individual sleeping surface means a better night’s rest.

It’s back to the office to finish off all the overdue assignments before the weekends begin. It’s been a very busy fortnight for us at home and I can’t wait for the next vacation!

I can’t thank God enough for today’s fast and powerful technology that has helped to ease my work load. Even for my kids, I need to slow him down a little. I’m opened to exposing my little junior to technology but he’s just too fast sometimes at six years old. He was even asking for a color printer when DH bought his epson receipt printer for the business. At this age, I would like him to learn more about green living or eco living so that he can understand his contribution to Mother Earth.

The holidays for the kids are ending and I can resume my regular work schedule again. That is supposed to be relief, can you believe it?

The weather is getting hotter each day and I’m finding it hard to tolerate the high humidity too. Working in the air con room doesn’t seem to do my sensitive nose any good and it’s almost not possible to get a good night’s sleep if I don’t have the air con on. How frustrating that it.

Give me a choice and I’d prefer using a fan over an air con. Sleeping and staying in an air con room can cause the skin to be dry and it can affect sinus as well. Some people prefer to have the ceiling fan on but I’m not sure if it’s good when you are sleeping underneath. Having said that, we use the ceiling fan in our office in the mornings and switch it to the air con after lunch. This is when the weather tends to get warmer and intolerable.

Whichever option you choose, using a fan can be more energy saving than an air con. But if you live in a humid and hot climate like us, you wouldn’t care too much sometimes, do you?

I was reading an article about eco living principles and was disgusted by the way manufacturers deceive consumers by adding a word ‘eco’, ‘green’, ‘friendly’ and ‘natural’ without living up to it.

As more people ride of the eco friendly hype, manufacturers are adding these terms to make consumers think that they too are responsible business owners. But sadly, the ingredients used in their products do not stand true to these claims. It is therefore important for consumers to check if the so-called eco friendly products are certified by any credible body.

As the internet is saturated with information and knowledge, we need to be vigilant and read in between the lines. I mean, you can do a search term of almost anything, from nuphedragen to hydrogen, you can find out what you need to know in a few seconds. So use the net wisely and dig for information that can steer you away from any false claims and assurance.

With the heat wave visiting our shores the last few weeks, the air quality is decreasing and causing some havoc to respiratory allergies. As it is, we’ve got an air purifier in our bedroom and I would need to invest in another one for our home office.

$599.00
Air quality can affect your lifestyle and health without you taking note of it. Those with kids at home should pay special attention as bad air quality can lead to unpleasant outcomes for your child. My boy tends to get a sniffy nose when the air quality drops. This can be detrimental to those with respiratory concerns. Another way is to wear a mask when you are outdoors when the air is bad. Putting on a mask can also help to keep germs at bay when you are with someone who is down with a cold or cough. These viruses can spread easily from one person to another.

For the good of my respiratory health, I try to stay away from those who smoke. I read that there are electric cigarettes that can cut down pollution of the air. Studies have shown that 2nd hand smoke has posed more health risks compared to the smoker. In any case, a good air purifier is necessary for the house and even your car. It’s time to look into one if you haven’t.

Last week, I came across another website that carries eco natural products for the home. That was good news for me as I am always on the lookout for new products, brands and information on the eco friendly movement.

I have been using natural cleaning products for the home and personally, I enjoy the peace of mind of using products that are free from those harsh and harmful chemicals. This matters to me as I have a little child at home who is prone to allergies and using eco friendly and natural products prevents toxicity and the inhaling of these chemicals present in the products. All natural home and laundry products are safe and effective alternatives to petroleum based ingredients found in name brand detergents. Choose those that are free from artificial fragrances and color brightening chemicals.

Whether you are looking for natural products for your vehicles, natural cleaning products for your home, furniture and even your ps3, natural laundry detergents, all natural dishwashing cleaners, essential carrier oils, you can find the answers to your needs by clicking on the banner above.

We all yearn to feel cared for, yet many of us withhold caring and compassion for others. A profound gift we can give to our loved ones is to listen with our heart, to understand and accept rather than to judge, and to stay open to learning rather than to protect against being hurt.

Sometimes we think that gifts can be used to replace our time for our loved ones but often times, this theory is wrong. Children prefer spending time with their parents more than those expensive gifts. Your spouse prefer to sit by the couch for a good movie with you than your luxurious gifting too. Nothing can replaced love and care for those who are close to us. Staying at home may not be the best fat burner option but sometimes doing things with the family can help to shed those extra calories!

Think about the last time someone actually listened to you and gave you understanding and acceptance. The feeling of being understood and accepted with caring and compassion is one of the best feelings in the world. Instead of focusing on getting this from others, why not focus on giving it to others? You might be surprised at how wonderful you feel in giving this gift to your family.

Interest in hands-on therapies has become very popular nowadays that even conventional physicians now embrace these treatments as beneficial not only in reducing stress, but also in speeding post-surgery recovery, managing addictions, and ending chronic pain from migraines, arthritis, and other serious afflictions.

According to the University of Miami’s Touch Therapy Institute, babies who receive daily massage gain an average of 47 percent more weight and are discharged from hospitals up to one week earlier than babies who are not massaged. Before learning about these facts, I used to think that having enough vitamins and minerals in the body is more important so I spend alot of money on vitamins of all sorts – men’s multivitamin, children ones, for women…etc. Touch therapy offers a number of benefits for newborn children. Some of these benefits include;

- Promoting wellness of the newborn;
- Enhancing the bonding process between baby and parent;
- Accelerates recovery from the normal rigors of birth trauma and/or difficult, prolonged labor;
- Helps to soothe teething discomfort;
- Optimizes growth and development, especially for babies who were critically ill at birth;
- Minimizes the complications of prematurity and provides loving comfort for babies who are hospitalized and separated from their parents;

Not only that touch or massage therapy are beneficial to an infant’s well being, but more importantly, babies that were massaged early in childhood establish a warm, positive relationship that continues as the child grows.
