Few days ago, I made a New Year e card via Freehand for my family and friends. What I did miss was a hard copy printed card which I used to send but due to many personal reasons, I couldn’t send them this year.
I used to handmake my own greeting cards and enjoyed using rubber stamps to create little designs. These days, it is so easy to get custom rubber stamps online. In other words, you can order your own design and create your own without any hassle. As the economy threatens to affect many people around the world, perhaps it’s time to go back to the basics and learn to create our own.
The one thing I wished I had learned well when I was a teenage girl was to know how to sew well. I am rather hopeless in sewing a straight seam, I just don’t know why. I admire those who can sew their own clothes, kids’ accessories, table cloths, curtains and even car covers! This is one craft that can allow one to be creative and fluid in churning out lots of cool, chic things on earth! Probably I can pick up hand sewing instead which is easier to control than a machine that’s just too fast for my fingers! Then again, quilting and knitting may be just as fun too. I may be able to sew handmade gifts for my friends and family and who knows, get into this flea market biz.
From a young age, I have acquired the habit of collection nice and unique paper products whether they are journals, cards, books, wrapping paper…etc. Somehow, this love for paper stuff has continued to develop and led to the pursuit of a career in print design in my younger days. Though I’m no longer a commercial print designer, I still love to feel the texture of papers and collect unique notebooks and cards. It is always nice to say thank you and I love you with a handmade and creative card and as they say, “little thoughts mean so much”. This one above is from Susy Jack, available from Supermarket.
Oh man, these pictures make me so hungry or rather GREEDY! I love sushi especially handrolls so these cute handmade items stand out to me almost right away. They look so deliciously attractive that your guests may help themselves to them right away if served on a dinner table! Well, felt cuisine is the brainchild of a mom of two, Hiromi Hughes who resides in Melbourne Australia – Oh, how I love this metropolitan city! I can’t believe how Hiromi can turn a simple piece of coloured fabric into something so real, original, yummy and creative – she is a real genius! Find out more at FeltCuisine.
