brooch with form and function
For a long time, I have been searching for a nice brooch for my dresses and tops but somehow, the brooches out there tend to be uninteresting and boring. Besides, there are not many makers of brooches unless you are willing to spend a little more for luxury brands like Georg Jensen or Tiffany. I have been to Tiffany a few times but somehow, they have very little selections for brooches.

Like some people who don’t mind buying cheap life insurance as long as it offers some level of protection, I don’t mind ‘brandless’ accessories as long as they are nice, interesting and suit my dressing style. Here’s a nice Dendrite brooch from Nervous System. I find the company’s name very interesting but basically, the duo behind this use inexpensive materials to create their designs, keeping a nice balance between form and function. The dendrite brooch is made of stainless steel. It is photochemically etched into delicate forms inspired by the aggregate growth of coral and dendrite crystals. The brooch is affixed by a nickel silver pinstem and clutch. The brooch has no predetermined orientation but the designers have suggested the style as presented in the photo.
